Nomad [E] 2: media player widget stays blank after a disconnect (Input 1.1.0-rc.4)

After the Nomad disconnects once, the media player widget never shows the playing track again. The media keys still control Spotify. Quitting and reopening Input and updating the firmware haven't brought it back.

Setup

  • Input 1.1.0-rc.4 (beta), macOS, Apple Silicon MacBook Pro

  • Nomad [E] 2, firmware 0.4.0-rc.11 (updated from 0.3.0 through Input)

  • Spotify desktop app

What happens
After the Nomad disconnects once, the media player widget never shows the playing track again. The media keys still control Spotify. Quitting and reopening Input and updating the firmware haven't brought it back.

What I've checked

  • Input has Automation permission for Spotify and System Events.

  • Running media-info-retriever.scpt from Terminal returns the current track correctly (app_name:spotify, song name, artist, duration, artwork URL, playback_status:1), so reading the media works.

  • Before the disconnect, Input sent media info to the device every second without problems.

After the disconnect, the device keeps reporting that the Media player screen is active, but Input never logs "Started media fetching" or "Sending basic media player info" again, even across restarts and the firmware update. It looks like the rc.4 change that stops media services on disconnect or screen lock doesn't restart them when the device reconnects.

Hi @Evan Wise thanks for the report.

This board is intended for issues affecting the public release of Input. For beta releases, please use the dedicated #beta-bug-report channel on Discord.

Keep in mind that beta releases are still under development and may contain bugs or unexpected behavior.

We're already aware of this issue, and a fix is coming in an upcoming release.

I'll close this report for now. Thanks again!
