Creator Micro V2 Firmware 0.6.1 Input Version 0.18.2 loses connection to Codex and requires Mac reboot to recover

Sometimes Codex gets into a bad state so I need to exit Codex. When I bring Codex back up, it fails to connect to the Creator Micro V2, although the Creator Micro V2 part of the Codex UI states that it is repeatedly trying and failing to connect. The Input app also fails to connect to the Creator Micro V2 when this happens.

I have to reboot my Mac to get everything cooperating again.

I use the Creator V2 in wired mode at all times because I find the wireless mode to be unreliable.

When it works it is great, I feel like I have to be very careful to not disturb the session to keep connectivity between the hardware and Codex alive.

@Davide // Work Louder hello, I see this is still marked as waiting on me, is there more info you would like me to collect? I am happy to collect it, but I am still having the same problems. Here’s what it looks like after a fresh macOS reboot.

All of the lights on the keyboard are off except for the layer selector which is in position 1. The keyboard is connected via USB.

Hey, providing an update here. The update did not help, my device still gets stuck disconnected after my laptop goes to sleep.

    Possibly related https://feedback.worklouder.cc/p/codex-micro-keyboard-has-become-unusable-after-firmware-update

When the issue occurs and I try to open the input app, I see

    - Does the Creator Micro V2 continue communicating normally with the Input app when Codex is closed?

Normally it connects to both apps, but when it gets into a bad state it connects to neither apps

    - Is the connection problem specific to Codex, or does the device also lose connection in Input?

    When it happens: both

    - Are you able to retrieve the keyboard data and configure the device normally in Input?

When the connection is healthy I’m able to configure the device in both apps.

    Hi @Derek Whatley

Thanks for the detailed report, and sorry you’ve been experiencing these connection issues.

We’re releasing new firmware version 0.6.2, which should address the connection problems you described. Before we confirm the fix, could you let us know:

    - Does the Creator Micro V2 continue communicating normally with the Input app when Codex is closed?

    - Is the connection problem specific to Codex, or does the device also lose connection in Input?

    - Are you able to retrieve the keyboard data and configure the device normally in Input?

Once firmware 0.6.2 is available (by the end of today), please update the device and let us know whether it resolves the issue.

Can you please provide this bin file. I am stuck in bootloader mode and the bin isn’t available.

Here’s what it looks like when everything is healthy. I can’t reproduce it every time I restart Codex, for example I just tried restarting Codex after a Mac reboot and everything is working fine.
